This workshop invites participants to collaboratively interrogate their assumptions about access and immersion, including how accessibility might support or obstruct the aims of immersion.
Starting with examples of where assistive technology has been at the heart of immersive experiences, we explore how Audio Description can, in fact, be used to enhance the interactivity, intimacy, and immersion achieved by virtual reality (VR) content.
Insights are drawn from my previous research with theatre audio describers and my current project with VR designers.
